QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. Properly certified in all areas of assignment;
  2. Demonstrate cooperativeness and willingness to carry-out assigned tasks and performance responsibilities;
  3. Bilingual endorsement, if highly preferable.

GENERAL SUPERVISOR:  Superintendent

JOB GOAL:                      To develop in each pupil an appreciation of the art of music as part of general culture; to teach techniques of vocal or instrumental music expression; to discover and develop talents of pupils in the field of music, to develop knowledge and skills in listening to and reading music.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Teach skills in music appreciation, harmony, and explorations in music and in instrumental music and choral music to elementary students

 

  1. Instruct pupils in citizenship, expected student behavior, and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.

 

  1. Plan a balanced music program and organize daily class time so that preparation, rehearsal and instruction can be accomplished with the allotted time.

 

  1. Provide individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.

 

  1. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment during practice, group rehearsals and musical performances.

 

  1. Evaluate each pupil’s musical growth and performance, assessing each individual’s contribution to the performance of the group.

 

  1. Plan, rehearses, and directs pupils in musical programs for school and community.

 

  1. Select and requisitions books, musical instruments, instructional aids and maintain required inventory records.

 

 

  1. Cooperate with the school administration in providing musical programs for school productions and civic functions.

 

  1. Supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities as assigned.

 

  1. Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities to include; in and out of school activities.

 

  1. Maintain professional competencies through in-service education activities provided by the district and in self-selected professional growth activities.

 

  1. Participate cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the method by which he/she will be evaluated in conformance with district guidelines.

 

  1. Perform other assigned tasks required by the supervisor(s).

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:

Term of employment is to be established on an annual basis, through the adoption of the school calendar.

SALARY:

Salary to be established on an annual basis, through the adoption of the salary schedules.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of Professional Personnel.
