QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School Diploma or satisfactory completion of the General Education Development (GED) Test;
  2. Preferably college credits in the area of general education;
  3. Preferably competencies in clerical and record keeping;
  4. Must be able to lift 25 pounds to head level, when required;
  5. Must be able to kneel, squat ,crawl ,bend and walk without limitations;
  6. Other qualifications determined to be necessary by the Board.

 

REPORTS TO:  Immediate Supervisor(s)-Principal and Librarian (Shared Responsibility)

JOB GOAL:       Independently and with limited supervision will provide a well organized, smoothly

                          Functioning library environment in which teachers and students can take full of available

                          Resources.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Type and process orders, reports, bibliographies, forms, library schedules, letters to publishers, catalog cards, and other required materials.
  2. Order and receive books selected for purchase by the librarian.
  3. Maintain files of catalog cards, vertical file material, publisher catalogs and the like.
  4. Write daily notices to homeroom concerning overdue books and collects fines for such books.
  5. Make simple repairs on damaged books and process more severely damaged books for repair at the bindery.
  6. Monitor attendance in the library and keep attendance records.
  7. Reserve books for teachers, on requests, and maintain the reserve shelf.
  8. Prepare current magazines for shelving and maintain the back-number stacks.
  9. Assist in the annual inventory of library materials and the preparation of lists of missing books and books to be discarded.
  10. Shelve incoming books.
  11. Maintain current inventory of supplies and suggest items for acquisition, as needed.
  12. Oversee the general neatness of attractiveness of the library and its displays.
  13. Help students locate reference materials and other instructional materials.
  14. Read in English and Spanish to small groups of students to elementary and middle school students.
  15. Assist with computer/distance learning, video and technology training.
  16. Attend board meetings at the request of the Superintendent or his/her designee.
  17. Perform at other assigned tasks required of the supervisor(s).

 

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Work schedule and hours to be established by the Board of Education on an annual basis, through the recommendation of the Superintendent.

EVALUATION:  Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the adopted board policies.
